Properties of 2D Shapes

2D shapes have:

• VERTICES = angles = corners
• SIDES

Lolly sticks and velcro dots

They are so easy to make, but remember to put the dots on both sides and each end of your sticks.

I used coloured lolly sticks and velcro dots. You can also use cut up straws and play-doug balls.

Geomag Fun

Geomag is great for that. You can use metal balls for vertices and magnetic sticks for sides. Look at the shape first and count how many vertices and sides will you need to build them. Use desired mathematical language.

BrainBox Maths is unbeatable to learn math’s facts and practice memory - I also use the abacus (to count points), 30 seconds timer - instead of 10seconds that came with the box. I found out that 10s. is not enough YET, for my 6 years old to memorise a page.
