To achieve this goal your child needs to understand the data gathered by them, or presented by given diagrams.
Go for a nature walk and bring a bunch of treasures. Unpack them at home (maybe in the garden) then count them and sort them out. Check which categories you can create. Don’t forget to record it. Ask your child why they organized things in these particular groups. Encourage your child to name them. Are there any other ways to sort them? Go to ‘Interpreting and constructing simple pictograms, tally charts, block diagrams and simple tables’ for ideas.
Sort out “Family shopping”. Why won't you do some crazy shopping with bits that you have at home, or help your child to sort out your real shopping. Which diagram would you use?
